Family Health Services
Postpartum Follow-Up
A public health department staff member contacts all Knox County families with new babies to offer education on child development, immunizations, and other agency services. The Knox County Health Department will also provide referrals for needed services.
Health Works Illinois
Assures that all children between the ages of 0-6 years, in the foster care system receive scheduled medical care. This includes dental, hearing, vision, well child check-ups, immunizations and referrals to needed services.
High Risk Pregnancy/Infant
Pregnant women or infants deemed at high risk are referred to the health department by physicians and hospitals. These clients receive home visits, physical assessments, developmental screenings, follow-up education and linkage to social service agencies or medical care.
Pregnancy Testing
Pregnancy tests are provided on an appointment basis. Referrals for Medicaid are available. If necessary, Health Department staff will link clients with medical providers.
Genetics Education / Follow-Up
Genetics counseling is available on a referral basis from health care providers. Information is also available to individual Knox County residents who want information on genetic disorders. Counseling is provided by genetic counselors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
