Body Art Establishment Program
The Knox County Health Department, acting as an agent of the state, conducts inspections of all body art establishments throughout the county. Body art facilities provide tattoo and piercing services. In order to reduce the risks associated with blood borne pathogens and improper sanitation, our staff conducts assessments to assure compliance with Illinois State standards

In conjunction with the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Knox County Health Department conducts inspections of all licensed tanning facilities throughout the county. In order to reduce the risks associated with long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation, our sanitarians review operations and maintenance of each facility, as well as determining if the facilities are compliant with Illinois State standards.
