Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria will usually attack the lungs, but can affect the kidneys, brain, and spine. If not treated, tuberculosis can be deadly.
A tuberculosis skin test shows if you have tuberculosis. During a TB test, a small amount of testing fluid is placed under the skin of the forearm. After your test, you will return for a nurse to check your results.

The following individuals should get a TB test

- Individuals who have had close contact (within the last 24 months) with a person who has TB
- Foreign borne persons applying for permanent entry into the US
- Persons entering school/daycare programs which require TB screening
- Employees who have TB screening requirements for their jobs
- Travelers who are traveling to or returning home from high-risk areas
